Current Category A real taste of pin memorabillia! These tin stick pin badges date back to the 1930s and were used as fundraising badges for various worthy causes. Many were produced during WWII and were sold (usually for sixpence) as aid/support for the Red Cross, Merchant Seamen, Orphanages, building funds, local charities and more interestingly Russia, China, Yugoslavia. An unusual Australian commemorative coin issued in 1927 which has been made into a brooch and the front of the coin enameled. The quality and control of the enameling is exceptional, so I assume this was a commemorative piece that coincides with the opening of the Parliament House and the 1927 date of the coin itself. This has to have been done by an extremely skilled enameller to keep the different colored enamels contained, and for the details in the scepters and the landscape around the building to come out as well as they did. The back of the coin, with a likeness of King George, has been mounted with a pin and clasp. Australia's first commemorative coin marked the opening of Parliament House in Canberra. The Federal Parliament transferred from Melbourne to Canberra in May 1927 and was opened in a grand ceremony by the future George VI. Designed by Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal, who designed the normal circulating George V issues, the portrait is of a distinctive style, showing a crowned George V facing left. The reverse, which features Parliament House framed in an ornamental panel and resting on crossed maces, with the date (actually engraved) also in a heavily ornamented panel, was designed by George Kruger Gray. This design is regarded as one of his most delicate efforts. Price:
